2nd Trimester Recap

Little baby girl is 28 weeks on Monday, and it feels SO great to be in the third trimester! I wanted to share a little recap of the past few months of second trimester, I can hardly believe how quickly time has gone by.

Morning Sickness:

At almost exactly 18 weeks, I started feeling so much better again. I finally began to have enough energy to make it through the day without napping, and I was able to eat food again. My first trimester was so much harder than I ever imagined - I had zero energy (barely enough to even take a shower), all food was disgusting, and smells! Oh the smells! Even just the refrigerator being opened (despite Casey scrubbing the entire refrigerator down), I went running to the bathroom. Morning sickness was rough, and lasted throughout my entire first trimester - I was so thankful that it quickly went away as my second trimester began.

Finding out gender:

Casey and my family can attest that I had a strong feeling that Junebug was a girl. We got to find out at our 20 week ultrasound - and I was correct! Unfortunately, Casey wasn’t able to come into the doctor at that time due to Covid restrictions, but my midwives put a slip of paper in an envelope, and as soon as I got to the car we opened it together and burst into smiles and happiness! We are so excited to welcome our little baby girl into the world.

Special Moments:

Oh it must have been around 21 weeks - we began to feel our little baby kick! It felt like little flutters at first, and soon Casey could feel her through my belly. I have an anterior placenta, which just means that my placenta is in the front of my stomach - making it more difficult to feel her kicks. Now that she is much bigger now at 28 weeks, I can feel her strong kicks all the time (literally she’s kicking right now) - and I have a feeling she’s going to have some pretty big leg muscles!

Two nights ago, Casey had his head resting on my belly, and he could hear her heartbeat. What an incredible feeling.

Purchases for Baby:

We bought her crib - a beautiful ivory cast iron crib that I think will look quite pretty her nursery. Bamboo Onesies from Kyte, Nooks, The Happy Sleeper book.

How I feel:

The past week or so I have started feeling tired earlier (9:00pm bedtimes now). My body feels sore by the end of the day, especially my lower back and pelvis. I started visiting the chiropractor, which has made me feel SO much better! Overall, I am just excited and feel a little impatient to meet our little girl :)
